Avant-garde composer Yardsss is set to drop a new single, "333", the first release since 'Granfalloons' in February.  An introspective effort crafting two thirty minute guitar sessions recorded between Krist Krueger and Sarah Nienaber (of Candace), each in one take.  Then Krueger put his producer's skills into play, editing those guitar tracks down to three minutes and thirty seconds, picking particular melodic segments and fleshing out additional instrumentation to mold it into two different tracks that follow the same melody line and base.

Yardsss and Wrtch announce Chicago performance in August.

August 8 - Chicago, IL - Township - Info

-----

Artist Pages: Yardsss | Wrtch

"[Yardsss] Granfalloons is a masterfully cohesive listen not for the faint of heart; immerse yourself in chaos and find wabi-sabi in the soothing ferocity of an album straddling shoegaze, electronica and psychedelia as one unifying tone for the present day.Granfalloons will blow your fucking mind." - Echoes and Dust

Ambrosia Bartośekulva transcends the reality of time and space with other-worldly imagery, installation, performance and sound.  Their masterminding reviles the commonplace and creates grandiose spaces for Man's mind to wander.  Currently based in Chicago, they have also been extensively involved in the nitty-gritty underground of Seattle, WA, and toured the world over with their gutteral-yet-stained-glass-crystal sounds as wrtch and Stalebirth.

SG025 // KING WHO release latest extended-play effort, 'Body'

5/9/2016

Picture
The re-release of KING WHO's self-titled debut album with SELF Group dives head on into their dark/heavy pop sound.  As a band they continue to evolve through live performance, life on the road, and working hard as a DIY tight-knit group of friends.  Their goal is to create music that thrives as an energetic live performance before taking it into the studio. Once they start recording the band tries to keep it as “live” as possible to maintain the music’s raw energy.  The songs on the new EP contain a dark play on lyrics featuring themes of mental and physical ailment, the re-examination of good, evil, love and hate, and the separation of spirit and body.

Eleven Magazine premieres new Mothertapes video for "Gravity Wins"

3/19/2016

"The album’s closer notwithstanding, “Gravity Wins” offers the deepest trance on Mothertapes’ debut record. And in this particular synthetic audio nest of Portland duo Pete Bosack and Tommy Franzen, there’s sensuality, nostalgia and, on the back of a trickling mid-song bassline, an influx of sadness. Even if, for era, the technology-voiced jam doesn’t match the video’s (tastefully edited) ’70s pornography, it’s suitably alien.

Director Jonathan Fine builds toward trysts in the song’s first half before the old, over-exposed film unwinds and rewinds in collage, as the song’s electronics and instrumentation eventually flood over themselves. Even with the cutting and re-editing of the historically distasteful, the direction is thoughtful in its obscurity." - Eleven Magazine

A new collaborative effort and the latest in the Yardsss singles series teaming up this time with Self Group roster-mates, Seattle's moody instrumentalists, Scriptures.  Wire explores in both an audio and visual sense (via the video) the ease of the advancement of technology in a communications sense, as well as its confines and the detachment of individuals and the human relationship to that communication.

Two tracks from 'Granfalloons' have officially been premiered by New Noise Magazine and Heavy Blog Is Heavy!

"Soaring drone noise and melody as cacophony reminiscent of late-80s/early-90s Swans, Emeralds and Popul Vuh" -- New Noise Magazine // More

"A weird mix of Swans, post-rock, and orchestral music. It’s not nearly as harsh or abrasive as No Wave or other experimental noise or drone projects, but it definitely has elements from those genres." -- Heavy Blog Is Heavy // More

Portland, OR band Yardsss -- ethereal music brainchild of Southerly and Sndtrkr leader Krist Krueger -- share their new album Granfalloons today.  The 5-track piece is the second in a three part Kurt Vonnegut inspired series following the critically acclaimed Foma, which also became a short film of the same name.  Hear and share the full album via  Soundcloud / Bandcamp.

Heavy Blog Is Heavy recently reviewed and premiered "Granfalloons II" HERE.  New Noise Magazine featured "Granfalloons III" and the full album stream HERE. Granfalloons is performed by Krueger with fellow Southerly member Eli Savage, joined by Sarah Saturday of Gardening, Not Architecture on guest vocals.

Astute listeners will notice the influence of artists as varied as Animal Collective, Radiohead, Matmos, St. Vincent, Battles, and Maps and Atlases. But such comparisons serve only as reference points for this thoroughly original duo. After ten years of collaboration, Bosack and Franzen regard Mothertapes as the culmination of their work together, a breakthrough project resulting in forward-looking music that is both artistically ambitious and highly accessible.

SG head honcho and main projecteer, Krist Krueger, has launched yet another new Song A Week series, Desolation Sessions.  The direction of this one is to focus specifically on acoustic-based songs, with all the bells and whistles removed, just simple bare bones songwriting at its purest.  The one follows directly on the heels of Aestheticism, the solo full band and wide ranging instrumentation project focused predominantly on slower subdued rock songs.  Stream and download the entire series gratis via http://kristkrueger.bandcamp.com/album/song-a-week-desolation-sessions
